I would do it ! but I looked into fully powering my house by solar - 100% and in my area it would be like 90,000 dollars… who has that money…. they don’t want you to be self sufficient america is a consumer based economy…self sufficiency is frowned upon too bad it would do a lot of good…

This is great if you live in a sunny area. I think it’s a good idea if you can afford it– and clearly this couple can afford traveling across the WORLD for a year with no jobs and looking for a home. For me, I just can’t afford it. Impossible though it is great for the environment.

My wife and I are considering an older (1910) farmhouse in Norfolk, Virginia USA and energy conservation is on our minds. Being right at sea level, a well for water is out, but the idea of solar generated electricity only makes sense after the time and energy well be spending on all the insulation areas

I did the same. Now it powers my hydro radiant heat pump and heater.
Also I have a biofuel generator as extra power. My car is biofuel too.
I mulch all my leaves in the fall into a fine powder and lay 3 to 4inches over the topsoil. By late spring its a worm bed and the best soil.
